Session Canceled: VoIP Services for SOHO and Residential Markets
Russ Intravartolo, CEO and Founder, Starnet Inc.
Replaced with: Tapping Underserved Markets of Opportunity with VoIP
Recently everyone has been talking about the potential for VoIP in traditional top-tier markets and large enterprises. However, major metropolitan markets only account for 35% of the overall population in the United States, and there it’s called the Fortune 500 for a reason. So what about the rest of the population? Untapped is the best description for these markets – untapped and lucrative. According to industry observers, including the FCC, the advent of VoIP is spurring broadband deployment in rural areas and the adoption of VoIP in SMB/SOHO/residential markets. But this raises several questions: Is VoIP the answer to the ILEC monopolies in rural markets? Is IP Centrex just as much of an answer for the little guy in business as it is proving to be for the Fortune 500s? Review the issues and idiosyncrasies of these largely untapped markets. Outline the go-to-market strategies and benefits available to those who can exploit the opportunities that broadband, small start-up wireless ISPs and service providers are finding with VoIP.

SenderID Framework, Record Publishing and PRA Implementation
Sender Policy Framework (SPF) 2.0, Record Publishing and MAILFROM Implementation
These two sessions will be combined into one, streamlining the content and allowing ample time for a question-and-answer period. The updated programming is as follows:
9:00–10:00am • Mengmail Demo
Over the last few months, a small group of email innovators have been working on developing a prototype for a next-generation email architecture. That architecture is based on the concepts of authentication, reputation and accreditation developed at the Aspen Institute in December 2003 and embodied by standards like SPF, SenderID and DomainKeys. Meng will demonstrate a working prototype and then open the floor to discussion. Is this the right direction for email to take? If so, can we agree on a rollout schedule?

HotWords enables ISPs to capture keywords (e.g. cars, books, etc.) and typos made by subscribers without the need for any desktop plug-in or other client-side software. A user can type a keyword, or any mistyped domain name, directly into the browser bar and get a search result with sponsored links. When a user clicks on one of those links, the ISP then gets a share of that revenue.
